Uses for IR Laser pointer by [email protected]
If you shine an IR laser pointer on a tooth, the tooth lights up, revealing cavities and fillings, perhaps as nonradioactive imaging. The IR laser pointer also lights up cavities in various nonliving materials, perhaps revealing their depths. I recently bought a flashlight with UV & IR LEDs (search...

How do you get those labels off the vitamin and nuts plastic jars by SF Man
I've started using the plastic containers for vitamins and mixed nuts and cheeses from Costco but some labels come off easily while others fall into a million pieces. Is there a TRICK to removing the label from these jars? Maybe a mechanical technique (I try to peal from all edges,...

What % of rent should a landlord set aside for repairs? by Ohioguy
We finally got our old place rented out, after trying for about 3 and a half months. Even after paying 10% to the property management company, we will be getting the equivalent of 10.5% return on our investment every year, after taxes. Trouble is, I'm not sure how much of this to set aside...

How make cheap roll around desktop computer/monitor stand? by [email protected]
Id like to have my desktop computer mounted on a stand similar to this Ergotron model in link: http://www.ergotron.com/Products/tabid/65/PRDID/116/language/en-US/Default.aspx It doesn't need to be this fancy and doesn't even need a keyboard platform as would be using wireless keyboard and mouse. ...

why would 1 room in our house always be hottor or colder than rest? by Ohioguy
We moved into a 1979 house back in March. Since then, I've noticed that our daughter's room always seems to be hotter than the rest in the summer, and cooler than the rest in Fall/Winter. Anyone have any suggestions for what might cause this? I thought it might be an issue with the ducts,...

"Not flushing" is hard to do! by Bill
I've been trying to "not flush" the toilet when I go number 1, but it is automatic! I've flushed every time for years and I just automatically flush. Anyway, after I stuck a reminder note on the handle, that did the trick... And it mostly does not smell. Maybe because I have city chlorinated...

The most suitable adhesive by john hamilton[_3_]
I'm trying to find out the best adhesive for gluing leather shoes back on to a rubber sole. I know the polyurethane adhesive that came in tubes for gluing on 'stick on soles' that we got from Woolworths was very good, but even if i could buy it now, it was expensive for just a smallish...

Is it a Secret? by VFW
Have you ever noticed that some people function in a world where they feel that for them to do well, someone has to do poorly? It's like they haven't noticed that there is plenty. Plenty for everyone. Esp. if you share what you do have, it comes back to you. And you realize "Greed" is not...

A/C Condensate Drain Pipe Cleaning Guide with pictures by Paul Michaels
A few years ago I was living in a home where the air handler was up in the attic. I neglected to ever maintain the air handler's drain pipe so it eventually clogged up and started leaking water down through the bathroom's exhaust fan. That unfortunate experience taught me to check, clean, and...
